Considered to be one of the best tenors of our time, Celso Albelo is following in the footsteps of great Spanish singers, being in possession of a voice with great body and smoothness and a bright and attractive tone. These elements combine with refined vocal phrasing and expressive diction, full of meaning.

Born in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, he trained at the Conservatorio Superior de Música in his home town with Isabel García Soto and at the Escuela Superior de Canto Reina Sofía in Madrid with Tom Krause and Manuel Cid. He later perfected his training with Carlo Bergonzi at the Busseto Academy.

In 2006 he moved into the highest echelons of the international opera scene after his successful Duque de Mantua in RIGOLETTO in Busseto, singing alongside Leo Nucci. From then on he has been invited to perform at Teatro alla Scala in Milan (PAGLIACCI), the Fenice in Venice (L'ELISIR D'AMORE) the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro (STABAT MATER), the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome (GUILLAUME TELL), Teatro Verdi in Trieste (DON PASQUALE, LES PÊCHEURS DE PERLES, MARIA STUARDA), Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (DON PASQUALE), Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Teatro Comunale in Bologna (I PURITANI), Teatro Verdi in Salerno (LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR), the Lirico in Cagliari (FALSTAFF, L'ELISIR D'AMORE), in Caracalla-Rome (RIGOLETTO), Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania (MARIA STUARDA), the Teatro Real in Madrid (RIGOLETTO), the Alfredo Kraus Opera Festival in Las Palmas, Grand Canary (LA SONNAMBULA), the Campoamor in Oviedo, the La Coruña Opera Festival (RIGOLETTO, DON PASQUALE, I PURITANI, LA FILLE DU RÉGIMENT), the Castell de Peralada International Music Festival (DON PASQUALE), Zurich Opera House (RIGOLETTO, DON PASQUALE, LA JUIVE, GIANNI SCHICCHI, MARIA STUARDA), the Classic Open Air Festival in Solothurn (RIGOLETTO), Savonlinna Opera Festival (I PURITANI), the Baden-Baden Festival (LA SONNAMBULA in concert version), Tokyo Opera House (LAKMÉ), Amsterdam Opera House (GUILLAUME TELL recorded live for the label EMI) Montecarlo Opera (RIGOLETTO) and Hamburg Opera House (L'ELISIR D'AMORE).

He performs regularly in numerous recitals and operatic concerts in the most prestigious concert halls in Spain, the Dominican Republic, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. He has worked with world renowned conductors such as Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Daniel Oren, Alberto Zedda, Nello Santi, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Carlo Rizzi, Donato Renzetti, Giuliano Carella, Fabrizio Carminati, Frédéric Chaslin, Antonio Fogliani and Marcelo Panni.

For his talent and dedication, Celso Albelo has been awarded the Opera Actual Prize 2008, the Opera Oscar bestowed by the Arena di Verona Foundation (2010) and the Teatro Campoamor National Prize for Opera 2010, the most important award in Spain, for I PURITANI in the best newcomer category.

Recently he performed with L'ELISIR D'AMORE in Bilbao, Venice and at Teatro Massimo in Palermo, with LES PÊCHEURS DE PERLES  in Salerno, DON PASQUALE at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR in Mannheim and LA FILLE DU RÉGIMENT at the Opera National de Paris.

In the upcoming seasons the tenor is taking on other important professional engagements with LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR Liege, LA FAVORITE at TCE in Paris, LA SONNAMBULA in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, I PURITANI in Bilbao.
